LSAT Unplugged August 2027 format, Reading Comp first

Free online practice test

Don't meet 52 minutes of Reading Comp cold. Sit the full August 2027 layout here first.

The question types didn't change, and a 165 still means a 165. What changed is the shape of the day, and you only feel that by sitting it. The Unplugged Practice Test in the August 2027 format is free, written by our team of top-scoring LSAT coaches using the same logic as the questions on official practice LSAT tests, and it ends with a score and an explanation for every question. The background is in the full rundown of the August 2027 format change.

What you get

Timed like the real new test, with both breaks: 52 minutes of Reading Comprehension, a 10-minute break, 45 minutes of Logical Reasoning, another 10-minute break, then 45 more. You find out how section 3 feels after all of that.

An explanation for every question: why the right answer is right, and what each wrong answer was built to make you think.

A score screen you can act on: your raw score, an estimated score on the 120 to 180 scale, and your accuracy by question type, so you know what to drill next.

Test-day controls, saved as you go: flag a question, skip it, come back, and use the real screen's eliminating controls on desktop. Stop between sections and pick up from any device. Time and a half and double time are options.

How it works

Step 1

Start the test. Give one email so your progress saves. The app asks for it on the next screen.

Step 2

Sit it. Go straight through (about 2 hours 40 minutes), or stop between sections and come back later.

Step 3

Read your score. Then read every explanation, including the ones you got right.

Before you start

Is this the real LSAT?

No. It's a free, unofficial practice test, not endorsed by LSAC. Our team of top-scoring LSAT coaches wrote every question, using the same logic as the questions on official practice LSAT tests. Due to licensing restrictions from LSAC, these are not actual LSAT questions.

Does this match the August 2027 format?

Yes. It follows the layout LSAC published on October 26, 2026: Reading Comprehension (52 minutes, 6 passages, 40 questions), a 10-minute break, then 2 Logical Reasoning sections (45 minutes, 32 questions each) with a 10-minute break between them. The question types and the 120 to 180 scale stay the same.

How long does it take?

The 3 sections run 142 minutes, plus 2 breaks. Straight through, that's about 2 hours 40 minutes. You can stop between sections and finish later. To practice on the same clock, use the free new LSAT timer.

Are the unscored questions in this test?

No. Every question here is scored. On the real test, 27 of the 104 questions won't count, and LSAC never says which. Its advice, and mine, is to play every one for points.

Will my score match the real thing?

Treat it as a starting line. Scores stay comparable across formats, and ours is an estimate. Your accuracy by question type tells you more than the number does.

What about LSAC's own new-format practice tests?

They land on LawHub in February 2027, and I'd take them the day they do. Until then, this is the way to feel the length and the order. After February, use LSAC's for your full tests and this one for extra reps in the same order.
